There are many versions of three-day diets circulating, all with the promise of bringing dieters significant weight loss in just three days. There are many variations in what dieters may and may not eat during these three days.

The most common three-day diet is a three-day diet with a meal plan that instructs dieters what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The specifics of the plan vary, as do what dieters are allowed to drink while on the plan. A common version of the three-day diet meal plan is:

Day 1

Breakfast: black tea or coffee, 1/2 a grapefruit, 1 piece of toast with 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter. Some version specifies 1/3 of a grapefruit, some call for artificial sweetener to be added to the coffee, some allow grapefruit juice to be substituted for the grapefruit.

Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna, 1 piece dry toast, black coffee or tea. Some versions call for tuna in water, some call for artificial sweetener with the coffee or tea.

Dinner: 3 ounces lean meat, 1 cup green beans, 1 cup carrots, 1 apple, 1 cup vanilla ice cream. Some versions specify a low fat ice cream, other do not. Some versions call for 1 cup of beets instead of carrots.

Day 2

Breakfast: 1 egg, 1 slice dry toast, 1/2 banana, black coffee or tea. Some versions require artificial sweetened in the coffee or tea. It is not generally specified how the dieter should prepare the egg. Some versions call for a whole banana.

Lunch: 1 cup cottage cheese and six crackers. Some versions allow dieters to choose between 1 cup of cottage cheese and 1 cup of tuna. Some require six crackers, some allow eight. Most versions call for Saltine brand crackers.

Dinner: two hot dogs, 1 cup broccoli, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream. Some versions specify beef franks. Some call for 1 cup of cabbage instead of 1 cup of broccoli. Some versions require low fat ice cream.

Day 3

Breakfast: one apple, 1 ounce cheddar cheese, five Saltine brand crackers, black tea or coffee. Some versions allow or require artificial sweetener.

Lunch: one hard-boiled egg, one slice dry toast. Some versions allow black coffee or tea (with or without artificial sweetener) with this meal, others do not.

Dinner: 1 cup tuna, 1 cup carrots, 1 cup cauliflower, 1 cup melon, and 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream. Some versions call for 1/2 a cantaloupe instead of 1 cup of melon. Some versions require low fat ice cream.

Substitute for Tuna in the 3 Day Diet

The 3 day diet has become a well-liked way to lose weight fast. Some people claim to lose up to ten pounds in a few days. Although the 3 day diet has become very popular for weight loss, many people find they cannot eat the tuna. Tuna is on the 3 day diet plan once for lunch and once for dinner. If you cannot tolerate the thought of tuna, follow the steps below to substitute for tuna in the 3 day diet.

People who believe that there is a substitute for tuna in the 3-Day Diet may believe that there is no chemical reaction with the specific blend of foods. The weight loss may occur because the person is taking in very few calories in spite of having foods like ice cream and hot dogs on the plan. If this is the case, dieters can make substitutions for tuna using foods that have the same number of calories and similar nutritional value.

For breakfast on the first day, you should eat one-half a grapefruit and one slice of toast with two tablespoons of peanut butter. Lunch is simply one half cup of tuna and a single slice of toast with coffee or tea. The evening meal may be 3 ounces of any variety of meat, one cup each of string beans and beats, a small apple and a cup of vanilla ice cream.

Here is what you are supposed to eat on the second day:
Breakfast: a boiled egg, one slice of toast and 1/2 a banana.
Lunch: 1 cup of cottage cheese and five saltine crackers
Dinner: 2 hot dogs, a cup of broccoli, one half cup carrots, 1/2 banana and 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream.

For the third and final day, breakfast is five saltine crackers, a slice of cheddar cheese and a small apple. Lunch consists of a single boiled egg and one slice of toast. Dinner is one cup of tuna, 1 cup each of beets and cauliflower, half a banana or cantaloupe, and 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream.

Campaigners say that the way the 3 day diet works is because of chemical combinations and you should not change or make any substitutions, other than the ability to add salt and pepper. No snacking between meals is allowed and no alcoholic drinks may be drunk, although the dieter is supposed to drink a lot of water.

One would believe that it would be all right to substitute a similar food for tuna if somebody does not like tuna. We would suggest canned salmon, although others have recommended turkey or tofu. More importantly, we believe this is a fad diet that may not be harmful, but there are much better diets available with more scientific research behind them. We especially feel that eating hot dogs is not a good idea for a healthy diet.

There is a variety of three-day diets that pass from person to person and on the Internet. They tend to promise weight loss of 10 lb (4.5 kg) or more in just three days. The most recognizable form of three-day diet on the Internet involves consumption of a large quantity of tuna and various vegetables during the day, with ice cream each evening.

Surprisingly surviving the test of time, the 3 Day Diet is another fad diet, dating back to 1980s. Copies of the 3 Day Diet continue to float around cyberspace, promising quick weight loss, cleansing, lower cholesterol, and increased energy. However, no diet book exists to validate the science at the back of the unique metabolic reaction.

Frequently misguidedly called The Cleveland Clinic Diet, the 3 Day Diet is a well-ordered plan that must be followed precisely for three days at a time, followed by normal intake for four or five days before opting to restart the plan again.

Supporters of the 3 Day Diet are promised up to a 10 pound weight loss in three days, although logically, most of that weight is likely due to fluid loss and not the more desirable fat loss. To achieve the proposed loss, exercise is not mentioned in the plan.

In addition to its firm every day food prescription, dieters drink 4 cups of water or non-caloric drinks each day.

The Three Day Diet

The beginning of the three-day diet is uncertain. Some people believe that they go back to the 1980s when these kinds of diets were faxed from person to another. Three-day diets go by many different names, including the fax diet, Army diet, Navy diet, Cleveland Clinic diet, and many others. Often they are just referred to as three-day diets. Although many versions of this diet claim to have been created by one medical institution or another, no therapeutic institutions have ever been known to come forward to claim responsibility for, or even to recommend, one of these diets. Many associations that have these diets named after them, such as the British Heart Foundation or the Cleveland Clinic, go out of their way to inform dieters that the diet did not originate where its title claims.

The 3 Day Diet is one of the most accepted short-term fad diets around nowadays. Many people adopt the diet to try and achieve short-term weight loss. Unfortunately, most people simply gain the weight back on again.

The 3 Day Diet is simply a low calorie diet. There is nothing magical – no mystical chemical reaction that goes on. Weight loss is due to a sudden drop in calories – some of this may be fat – but most will be from water loss. This plan it is to be used for 3 days at a time. If you follow it correctly you can lose up to 10 pounds in 3 days. After 3 days of dieting, resume eating normally for four to five days, do not overeat. You can start back if you like.

You can add herbs, salt, pepper, lemon, vinegar, Worcestershire, soy sauce, mustard & ketchup to your diet. Drink 4 glass of water or diet soda or any diet drink without sugar or use only diet sugar.

It is a calorie cut down, as long as you eat the same amount of calories in any type of food you will lose weight fast. You can switch the diet food around any way you wish or replace the foods you see for another with the same caloric value.

What You Can Eat

The 3 Day Diet is a very specific food plan that must be followed exactly. Portions must be eaten precisely as specified and dieters are warned not to overeat — otherwise the promised 10 pound weight loss may not be achieved. Likewise, dieters should not under-eat, even if they are not hungry. The detailed plan does not mention or recommend any exercise.

Breakfast on the first day begins with coffee (no sugar), one half a grapefruit, and a piece of toast with 1 tablespoon peanut butter. For lunch, you are allowed a can of tuna, a piece of toast, and black coffee. Dinner consists of 3 ounces of chicken or lean meat, a cup of green beans, one cup of carrots, one apple, and one cup of regular vanilla ice cream. The other two days of the diet are moderately similar in meal quantity, though the specifics change, e.g. Day 2 recommends two beef franks for dinner in place of three ounces of lean meat. The diet claims that weight loss of 10 pounds is achievable over the 3 days that the diet lasts.

American Heart Association 3 Day Diet

The American Heart Association 3 day diet is intended for people who want to lose weight quick. The diet program claims to decrease your weight by up 10 pounds within 3 days. But not merely fat loss fits in to its benefits; it is also supposed to have a cleansing effect. After doing a little research, we’ve found these claims to be extremely dubious at best.

The supposed “American Heart Association 3 Day Diet” is a diet that assures 10 pound weight loss in three days. This diet is not really endorsed by American Heart Association at all. It promotes unhealthy intake so, as a word of caution, this diet should not be done beyond 3 days.

This diet, the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet, is in no way associated to the American Heart Association. Although there are people that are attempting to pass the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet off as a genuine diet that is supposed to help cardiac patients as something 3 Day Diet is in fact not a true diet supported by the American Heart Association, and the fitness benefits of it is a much debated topic.

There are no doctors or dietitians that support the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet, due in part to the lack of healthy eating. The American Heart Association 3 Day Diet allows foods that are primary sources of fat, sodium, and cholesterol.

Some different names for the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet claim a different purpose for the diet, such as using it as a cleansing diet to take away toxins from your body. However, the main idea with the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet stands the same. They promise of speedy weight loss, with little or no effort on your part. This is untrue, not only with the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet, but also with other diets that center mainly on food content, and fail to address the exercise part of the diet. The American Heart Association 3 Day Diet does not create any references to an exercise regimen, or any type of exercise for that issue.

Exercise plays a vital role in any diet, but in the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet, there is no mention of exercise. The American Heart Association 3 Day Diet consists of a three day food schedule that you are encouraged to adhere to. The weight loss capability promised in the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet is a 10 pound weight loss in just three days.

Doctors and dietitians that have studied the American Heart Association 3 Day Diet, have stated that a minor quantity of weight loss will in fact occur, due to the fact of the calorie count being so low, only about 1,200 calories a day, but the weight loss would consist of mostly water weight, and muscle being burned. Very little fat weight loss would happen.
